For Yuchen Han, ALIENANT is more than a brand, it’s the story of his life’s struggles, growth, and transformation. The inspiration for ALIENANT came from a recurring dream he had for six years in his childhood, a tiny ant carrying a grain of mega rice, in a white mist. At first, Yuchen believed the ant represented himself and his struggles. However, an enlightening moment shifted his perspective. He began to see the dream as a metaphor for the human condition, our struggles and challenges.
Therefore, the meaning behind ALIENANT lies in its unique fusion of metaphors. The “alien” represents higher-dimensional beings, symbols of expanded awareness and elevated consciousness, while the “ant carrying the rice” reflects humanity carrying the weight of material existence such as power, ego, status, money and more.
For ALIENANT, fashion becomes the guiding thread between these two worlds, a toll for transformation. It empowers individuals to rise above limitations and the gigantic rice grain they are carrying to finally see their lives from a higher perspective, which is the mission of the brand. It’s about transformation, offering people the vision to transcend their limitations and step into a more enlightened version of themselves.
Each ALIENANT collection tells a chapter of Yuchen’s life. “My Childhood” explores his early struggles with domestic violence, distrust, and the search for safety. Escaping into dreams and creativity, Yuchen expressed these challenges through designs that reflect pain and resilience. Then, “A Second Before Awakening” represents his experience achieving a lifelong dream, Yuchen moved to New York City to study fashion at FIT, inspired by bold, transformative figures like Lady Gaga. But despite realizing this dream, he fell into a deep depression. This collection reflects his struggle to find balance and purpose during his darkest moments. Overcoming depression became Yuchen’s turning point. The “Destroy and Restructure” collection represents his rebirth, the collapse of an old self, and the strength to rebuild anew. It symbolizes hope, resilience, and the ability to move forward stronger than ever.
Through these transformative experiences, Yuchen has undergone a spiritual awakening at the end of 2023. His perspective on life and the world has shifted, and this evolution is shaping the next chapter of ALIENANT. The upcoming collection will reflect this new mission and vision, encouraging others to embrace their true selves and guiding them on their own journeys of awakening.
